I like the Truth in one of my favourite observations:

"People who don't make mistakes usually don't make much at all"

Newsflash! Television news editor makes mistake!

Like most of us, on some days I make the occasional mistake. But on
every other day I make PLENTY of them!

Not too many people find out about my errors (unless I make them on
birding-aus). When a journalist, editor, newsreader, copywriter
makes an error in a story, thousands of people know about it
immediately. OK - so their job is to report the truth and to report
accurately - but I ask: Have you never made a mistake at work?

I don't have a problem with people mentioning errors in the media (I
quite like Media Watch myself!) but I don't think we should ridicule
journos for an occasional slip. It is probably a lot more productive
to congratulate them for doing the hard yards and getting stories out
to the public quickly, or investigating complex issues and explaining
them in a way that makes sense.
