Hi all
Finally got myself a BSC - on the Esplanade at Cairns - but not at the northern
end where it has been seen often, but this mornign at 8.15 there was one on the
mud not far from the walkway - opposite Rydge's hotel (and that is not an ad!)
Lots of other nice birds here - including Broad-billed and Terek Sandpipers,
both usual Godwits in large numbers, and many many Whimbrel & Curlew.
Now I understand why Cairns is such a birding destination - a bit like
Werribee, but with a Casino and shops instead of ducks ... and a pool you CAN
swim in!
Cheers
Russell
