Hi Mike
The blue cere and eye-ring are distinctive features of the Hobby. The
white on the neck also goes a lot higher than in the Peregrine. The rich
colour of the breast/underparts is also more like that of a Hobby.
Cheers,
Merrilyn

Today there was a small falcon on the wires outside our house. It was being
harassed by a pair of Magpie Larks. I got 5 pictures of it, but from the
angle I was standing, I could not be sure whether it is a Peregrine or an
Australian Hobby, can anyone help?

Unfortunately the sun was behind it, and by the time I got my binoculars out
it had disappeared.
