Perhaps some one in the know can provide some details on the criteria
for official criteria on the list - does one accepted sighting of a
blow-in sufficient, or does a species need to have more than a one-off
sighting [ie single bird] before it is officially listed?
Is the list organised as follows?
Breeding Residents
Breeding Migrants
Regular Non Breeding Migrants
Irregular Non Breeding Migrants
Very Infrequent Vagrants
Is there a data base of unconfirmed sight records for the rarites?
Regards, Laurie.

A quick question regarding this species - Is it officially on the
Australian List yet?
Christidis & Boles included it on the Supplementary List stating
HANZAB (1993) as all records are unacceptable (unfortunately my HANZAB
are at work at the moment so I can't check it). Thw orking draft on
the BA site doesn't list it, but it doesn't list a few things.
The CSIRO List of Vertebrate Species does not list it all, and knowing
one of the authors I thought they had checked over the records vetted
by BARC (maybe I am wrong on this).
All the records at the BARC website are Not Accepted (I assume because
of the difficulty of ID).
Looking through the archives there is a record by Dion Hobcroft that
has been accepted by BARC though this probably just before the reports
went digital?
There is also the record that both Graham and Edwin have mentioned but
this doesn't appear on the BARC site.
Can anyone let me know if this should be on the list.
Cheers,
Peter
