Hi all,
I joined up with Chris Lester on the weekend for these birds. Two ATs were seen Saturday 16 September. 1 adult breeding plumage (briefly) and 1 non breeding adult which stayed stationary for at least a couple of hours. Unfortunately the birds were roosting on the island and did not approach the mainland. No ATs were seen on Sunday by us (and others). The wind on that day was a blustery North Wester and there were virtually no birds visible on the island at all and few terns on the mainland.

While on KI I was keen to see the KI form of the Western Whipbird. With thanks to Tony Russell for suggestions on locations, we found at least one near Seal Bay and were fortunate to have excellent views with one bird sitting near the top of a dead shrub singing for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Happy birding.
