Went last Wednesday to check out the new platform and was disappointed with the
design and location. It is to far from the waters edge so it offers a
restricted view of the bay and I also believe that it will attract vandals to
the site< as the platform is only around twenty metres from the car park, but
the platform is out of site of the main road which means it will be a great
place for locals to party at night, as it is only a five minute drive from the
local football club. It will be interesting to see what the platform will look
like in 12 months time, I hope it will not be covered in graffiti and littered
with broken bottles. The good news is that the National Parks have been doing
some bush regeneration in the area. I might sound like a kill joy but I believe
that money could be better spent on weed, dog and fox control ect than spending
environment money on viewing platforms, walkways, bike tracks and the like.
However I did see a few birds while I was there.
Eastern Curlew
Whimbrel
Great Egret
Bar-tailed Godwit
Pied Cormorant
Great Cormorant
Little Pied
Little Black
Chestnut Teal
