Hi allNear me there is a Tawny Frogmouth which I have seen calling (and in the dark I could not be certain there were not two birds) from a newly-made nest (the gum leaves are green). Is it calling FOR a mate? Or because it ALREADY has a mate? The Reader's Digest Book of Australian Birds (my old edition) says they mate for life and both birds call from the nest site. But is says nothing about attracting a mate. Help?!
