Eighteen years ago I was sent to Darwin (from Brisbane) by my employer for 5
weeks, as I left my shared-house John McKean threw me a key and said "you
might find this useful".....it was the key to Darwin Sewage Works. (you may
remember the crocodile story!)

How times have changed!

Thanks to all who have responded to my RFI, seems I have ten million
liability cover with BA and my Household Insurance, will let you know how
things progress with the permits!

They I had to sign some indemnity forms when I applied to go in. Had to
have it all sorted weeks before going in.

Hi all,

The Leanyer Sewage Works in Darwin does require a permit of sorts - you
have to register, and you have to inform them of your visit in advance -
because you need to pick up a key. They take a deposit (fully refunded
when you return the key), and then you're fine. No insurance
requirements. The main thing that catches people out is that the first
time you go, you need to have the paperwork done a few weeks before you
need to get the the Sewage Works. After that they only need 48 hours
notice to get the key each time you go.

Regards,
Chris

ps. unless things have changed in Broome, the situation there is worse,
with no public access at all - bye bye Snipe sightings. You can drive
around the side and look in with a scope, but a great deal of the pond
edges are not visible from outside due to high banks.
