Hi All,
The Grass Owl was again seen at the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee,
Victoria tonight. It showed reasonably well in fading light from 6:10 pm.
Contrary to previous reports the bird is actually lightly honey coloured on
the breast and flanks with a slightly darker band across the upper breast.
This feature was visible in the field but it did appear whiter at times. The
clenched feet (forming 'fists') projected fully beyond the tail with the
tail tip reaching to the lower ankle. The square facial disc was also
apparent. I have posted a record shot of the bird that further confirms the
identification. The image should appear sometime later tonight at:

There was also a Southern Boobook and a Barn Owl present nearby.
Congratulations to John and Sue O'Malley for this great find.
Cheers,
Rohan Clarke
