In reply to John Tongue's request copied below:
Peter Fowler and others saw it on Wednesday morning 9 August after not
finding it Tuesday afternoon. No later info.
Jenny Holcombe, , a local lass volunteered to
monitor it's presence so contact her for the latest news.
A summary of the info received from Weiting Liu regarding the status of
Grey-headed Lapwing on Taiwan, apart from Japan one of the more easterly
parts of its range, is as follows. It is regular but uncommon there. Less
than 10 recorded every year. In last 10 years, one record in July, none in
Aug/Sept, some seen in October on southward migration in autumn, and only a
few November to January. Most are seen February to April, obviously migrants
heading north but most have passed through by May and only two records in
June. The largest flock was of 6 seen during the peak spring passage. There
are no banding records so the origin of these birds it is not known.
