HiI was watching 2 Eurasian. Coots fighting with a Dusky Moorhen by trying to push it under the water with their feet near Shellharbour, 90 Km S of Sydney. The Moorhen seemed to be coming off second best and started to squawk. Within 15 seconds another Moorhen appeared and took up a position next to the first Moorhen and within a minute 2 more turned up. The Coots were then getting a hiding and decided retreat was the best idea and the 4 Moorhens then swam around in an low profile puffed up aggressive pose calling their triumph to the rest of the pond. Dispute settled and not a WMD in sight. Cheers Chris =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.comTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
