It has come time for me to tap your vast knowledge. I need to know what
camera to upgrade to for Digiscoping. I have an 80mm Optex scope with a 4
year old little Olympus C40 (4MP). I am happy with the scope for now but the
camera could be better. I have trawled the internet for hours and hours and
am more confused than when I started.

I know that what I am looking for are as many of the following as I can get
(maybe not all):

*       3x - 4x optical zoom

*       External zoom elements

*       Lenses with filter threads

* Minimum 3-MP sensor - more is better especially being 2006 now with
all the 7-10MP available

* Large LCD screens that swivel independently from the lens

*       Full manual capability

*       Fast write speed

* Little or no shutter lag

* Cable or wireless shutter release

my current camera has a wireless shutter release but with a 3 second lag

I found a list of cameras that don't cause Vignetting when zoomed at

a.com/dsbirds/DigiSCameras05.htm but I struggle to understand their scoring
exactly and some of the cameras like the Dimage i5 didn't look like they
were available in Australia, on further investigation?

I would be grateful for any feedback as my wife is threatening to leave me
if I spend any longer searching the internet.

Kind regards
