Hi Chris,

Magic Point is right beside a rifle range and you can in fact walk right behind an embankment behind the targets and if they are shooting you will hear bullets flying overhead. Magic Point itself is on the eastern side of the rifle range and outside the fence and there shouldn't be any bullets flying over there.

I was having a wander around Magic Point with my camera on Sunday morning & had the fluttering whine of several ricochet pistol bullets pass overhead. Is this just par for the course for birding at Magic Point?

Hi all,

A group of about 20 people attended a Cumberland Bird Observers' Club outing to Magic Point Maroubra (Sydney) yesterday.

Conditions were fairly good for viewing with some light rain in the morning becoming sunny in the afternoon. Winds were very slight from the north-west.
