Just had a great 4 days on Norfolk Island, wind and squalls not
dampening any enthusiasm save the absence of landing on Philip Island!
Easily came across all the birds there although not the White-chested
White-eye for which reports still sporadically exist. Spent several
hours in likely looking spots just waiting too!
Also had a great trip around Bird Rock and the rock stacks off the
north of the island on the small runabout of Luke Christian whose
mother Marion organised all our trip. She did a superb job too: If
you're planning on a visit to Norfolk an e-mail to Marion should
solve any logistical issues you have.
Marion Christian
easy to call too: + 67 23 22 232
Marion will also put you in touch with Margaret Christian the islands
resident bird genius and can arrange for Margaret to take you out.
Margaret has a recently published book: "Norfolk Island ... the
birds" which Marion will sell you with a signature from Margaret:-)
If anyone would like a list of birds seen drop me a line but please
note I am not contactable for three weeks after 11 July (in the
Kimberley's with a Coral Princess Cruise (http://
www.coralprincess.com.au/index.html )
Best to all.
Alan
