Had the pleasure of seeing my first Beach Thick Knee at Cairns last week. During my vacation I regularly checked the northern end of the esplanade. One day the bird was sitting on a low flat rock on the mud, 5m from the mangroves, and 40m from the sand beach. It was low tide. I watched for 15 mins, it was relatively still - an occasional bob of the head the only movement. I then left to get my camera, but when I returned in 15 mins it was gone. [I had enjoyed the prior day touring with Ben Blewitt. We checked a number of spots but did not see the Thick-knee then. Saw many other "firsts" however.] ==============================www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: ============================= |
