A good trip, albeit very windy.
Pied Heron 1 Seisia Sewage Ponds, Lesser Frigatebird 3 over Little
Woody Is., Australian Bustard 2 at Jackey-Jackey airstrip, Beach
Thick-knee 2 at Pajinka, Palm Cockatoo 7 over near Umagico one
morning, Chestnut-breasted Cuckoo 1 Lockerbie Scrub Jun 23, Marbled
Frogmouth 2 heard, Yellow-billed Kingfisher 1,
Noisy Pitta heard, Frill-necked Monarch two sightings of 3 birds,
White-faced Robin 1, Northern Scrub-Robin 1, Mangrove Golden Whistler
1 Little Woody Is., Tropical Scrubwren Lockerbie and Pajinka,
Yellow-legged Flycatcher 3, White-streaked Honeyeater 2, Tawny-
breasted Honeyeater, Black-backed Butcherbird, Magnificent Riflebird
a male doing full display June 22 was unexpected, Trumpet Manucode
several, Pale White-eye 6 Little Woody Is with a Yellow White-eye
amongst them, the second time i have seen this species here,
something of a range extension.
Tropical Scrubwren looks, sounds and behaves nothing like Large-
billed Scrubwren, an anticipated lumping seems premature......
Northern Scrub-robin also behaves and sounds quite unlike the New
Guinea birds, would be interesting to get some analyses of this one too.
