Hi To All,

Had a great three day dash to the Mallee late last week. Fine sunny days and
very chilly nights. Saw lots of the usual suspects at Wyperfeld National Park
including large numbers of Blue Bonnets, Mallee Ringnecks and White - winged
Choughs. At Pine Plains (one km into the park along Patchelwollock Road) saw
flock of fifty plus Major Mitchells. My travelling partner has studied MMC's
for several decades in the area and could only identify half a dozen immature
birds, which sadly seems to back the theory that the population is ageing and
on the decline. Great to see this number of birds together. Also saw a few
Mulga Parrots bathing in a small farm dam. Emu's everywhere, Banded Lapwings,
Female Red - capped Robin and imm. Hooded Robin and Variegated Fairy Wrens in
abundance.
