In response to Paul's request for where to put his platypus sighting.

In Victoria we have the Atlas of Victorian Wildlife for all vertebrate and 
some invertebrate observations.  This now has literally millions of 
records for all species across the state.

I notice NSW also has a similar scheme which can be found at the following 
URL.
