Hi Damian and all,

Greenfinches have never been reported in the Capertee Valley. The closest is Rylstone where I occasionally hear one along the river. This is quite a different habitat to the valley. What were the features you saw of these birds?

The Gilbert's Whistler is an excellent record for the valley. One was seen by David Geering in August 2000 and another, possibly the same bird, was seen around the same time by Vicki Powys. Any more details on this recent sighting? Anyone know who the observer was?

cheers

Carol

The final day was the lottery, with a visit to the Capertee valley. What a spot this is! .... I also spotted several flocks of what I could only imagine were greenfinches, could this be right? .... Heading out of the valley I ran into another bird-watcher who, though also having missed out on Regents thus far, did tell me that he got great views the previous day of a Gilbert's Whistler in the valley!
