I think the suggestion regarding blinds might well work. We have two large windows overlooking the garden. The dining-room window has light-grey Venetian blinds on it (with slats horizontal through the day), and the kitchen window has no blinds on it. The Rainbow Lorikeets and Spotted Turtle-doves frequently hit the kitchen window, but I have never seen any of them hit the dining-room window (and it is where my computer resides, so I am here much of the time).
