This am on the Sandringham Golf Course I saw a bird looking a bit like a
cross between a Brown Thornbill (it was that size) and a White-browed
Scrubwren.
Viewing conditions were bad and although I saw it several times during 60
minutes I didn't get good notes on much, for instance I noted its tail was
much more like a thornbill than a scrubwren tail.
It was rather neat-looking with a plain olive-brown (?) back and cap,
whitish underneath - particularly throat - but looking at times like plain
grey on the breast and more buff towards the vent. What first grabbed my
attention was what looked like a shortish supercilium and a matching area of
white beneath the eye.
I'm allowed to take a couple of other people on to the course so if anyone
wants to give it a whirl tomorrow please get in touch. I can probably spare
an hour or so.
