Just thought I'd add my sighting as well.

This past Sunday I saw a small flock of about 8 birds in a small park off Wood
Street, Preston. Quite a residential setting, and the birds were very close to
the footpath seemingly undisturbed by the traffic. In the past couple of years
I've also sometimes seen a pair along St. Georges Road, Preston in the wide
strip near Bell Street -- very close to the busy intersection. Upon returning
the next day I always expected to see one flattened, but it seems that they're
savvy enough to avoid injury or death.
