There are many variations in patterns and colour according to the district and climatic conditions. Some obvious and some not so obvious. I have noticed changes in the local bird population over the drought. As Orange can get.to -6 or -7 min. and 4 to 5 max.temps during the Winter the birds that hang around have a denser feather layer and different colourings than those at along the Mid North Coast. This is from self observation as my father lives at Old Bar (on the coast near Taree NSW)
