My wife and l will be finishing a work trip in Adelaide in early July
and will then have about a week free. We've never been in the area and
would like to do some mallee country birding, if feasible. We're
thinking of driving to Melbourne by way of Mildura, which puts us in
or withing striking distances of several national parks:
Murray-Sunset, Mungo, Hattah-Kulkyne,Wyperfeld, and the
Grampians.(That's more than we can hope to visit, of course, but we're
not sure what to pick.) Can anyone offer suggestions, recommendations,
or warnings for travel and birding at this time of year in the area?
I've got Lloyd Nielsen's "Birding Australia" and Thomas & Thomas for
birding guides, as I know of nothing else for the area;.

Thanks in advance for any help,

P.S. I'm happy to get responses privately or here on the list. When
other people ask these kinds of questions, I'm always hoping the
answers will be sent to the list so that they'll be in the archives.
