Firstly, public thanks to Mike Carter, John Barkla, Martin O’Brien, Frank Pierce, Greg Clancy & Danny Rogers for their generous, interesting and informed contributions to the “Probable/possible White-morph Eastern Reef Egret at the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee, VIC” discussion over the past 5 days.

I saw this small egret again at the WTP yesterday (Wed 29/3) – it is certainly unusual.  I have now been convinced that it is indeed an odd Little Egret.

Of additional interest were 4 Cattle Egret sitting out a rather windy high tide on rocks on the bay-shore in the same area, ie just north of the Beach Road boat-ramp – the first time I have seen Cattle Egret on a sea-shore in Victoria, or anywhere else for that matter.

And while on the egret theme, 5 Little Egret at Westgate Park (alongside the Westgate Bridge near the Yarra River at Fisherman’s Bend) on Tuesday 28/3 were the greatest number of this species I have seen in one location in southern Victoria.
