Is Australian birdwatching coming of age? Having an arrangement
whereby reports rarities are immediately e-mailed to any interested birdos
(including twitchers in denial) is a giant step forward in Australian
birding.
Reports made a few days later may be good for the reporters' ego,
but dipping after a long drive or flight because the bird has flown dampens
the twitchers enthusiasm. These birds don't usually hang around for long.
Frequent checking of several websites for the occasional mega is
not quite the same as receiving a succinct email.
Open up your closely guarded sources, only good can come of it.
Cheers
