Hi All Evan, I was seriously considering getting one of these traps
but I have just read a report on the trap and it left me with the
impression that it is not that efficient. Apparently the little
buggers as you put it soon realise its a trap and avoid it. Hope some
one out there can tell me this is not so, I desperately want to reduce
the 100 or so I have on my place.
The rage against Mynahs on this list is palpable, but are there any
out there prepared to put their convictions where their mouths are?

Keith - a bit of guess work - I would clear the trapped mynas out of the
cage after dark so that nearby free mynas don't witness what you are
doing. Birds learn very quickly. When I first enquired about this 3
years ago it was said you had to keep one in the cage to attract the
others, and a guy in Canberra who trialled it, caught over 200, mainly
inhabiting a large old half or totally dead tree at the back of his
garden, which allowed the rosellas to return to the tree hollows to nest.
Best of luck - all we can do is reduce the numbers in our area, never
totally get rid of them.
