Hi charles,
You were lucky to get a 4 sec. look, I reckon I have a 1 sec. look combining Rufus and Noisy Scrubbirds.
The name of the palm/creeper is Lawyer Cane, ther are several species: Wait a While, Fish Tailed Lawyer Cane, Yellow Lawyer Cane, another one called Wait a While and Vicious Hairy Mary, they are all Calamus species. I like the old north Qld. name: Come back Quick.

Hi all,

I was almost certain I saw a Rufous Scrub Bird at 9.00am on 18th, not confident enough to tick however due to poor light and 4 second obstructed viewing. As I tried to get closer I was grabbed by those palms that have those razor sharp spikes that grab on to you (name?), almost tore my finger off (and left several splinters in it). May have helped if I had also knew call of the bird!
