Hi All,

Over the last couple of weeks a Peaceful Dove has been periodically calling
along the Campaspe River near Axedale (central Vic.) Pizzey mentions they
are to be found in 'south central Vic' which would cover Bendigo area. .
Axedale is east of Bendigo. How much further south than this are they
likely to be located?

Chris Tzaros excellent book 'Wildlife of the Box Ironbark Country" has them
in the Greater Bendigo area and our habitat is certainly right with River
Red Gums, the river scatter trees and open grassland. I have also very
occasionally heard one is the Heathcote area and presumed it was an aviary
bird!.

Thanks and happy birding all

Marlene.
