Following reports of Red-chested Button-quail in the Hawkesbury, WIRES picked one up in Bullaburra in the Blue Mountains in early January. Unfortunately it had been caught by a cat and did not survive. It is now in my freezer and will be taken to the Australian Museum soon. Our rescuer thought she saw a second one but this has not been verified.
