In reply to Evan's message below: - there are plenty of Peregrine Falcons in city centres - I saw one from my office window cruising south down Pitt St, Sydney on Tuesday this week and there's quite a famous pair in Brisbane. Lots of pigeons and/or seagulls make for a ready supply of prey for larger raptors. - there were 2 Powrful Owls in Sydney's botanic gardens in 1999/2000 (eating rats and fruit bats) - not sure that a Kestrel could tackle a pigeon, although there's a plentiful supply of mice on the CityRail network (based on the population running around on the tracks at Town Hall station Cheers Tom Wilson |
