I had to work on New Years Eve, just in case any one was foolish enough to
want to visit Cocoparra NP in 40+ degree temperatures for the evening.
Thankfully no-one was silly enough to be out there so I spent a bit of time
watching birds coming into water at three locations (two in Binya SF and
Woolshed Flat Dam in Cocoparra). Some interesting species as listed below.
Looking at the BOM website the temperature peaked in Griffith at 43.8
degrees at 5 PM, and it was still 39 at 8PM. Not surprising the list was so
long. Best birds were Bar-shouldered Dove and Yellow-plumed Honeyeater which
are uncommon but regular in Cocoparra.

Went to The Rock NR yesterday and in the middle of the day had some
interesting birds at water including a Collared Sparrowhawk, 3 Leaden
Flycatchers and a Speckled Warbler. Also there were another Lace Monitor and
at least 8 Swamp Wallabies (not bad for 43 degrees at 12PM).
