Bill, Public opinion can , via political pressure, certainly change the way that miners operate. If the ABC ran a documentary on the almost extinct Night Parrot and the possible effects on a remnant population endangered by a mining operation, some pollies and conservation organisations/authorities would take it up and the miners would take it seriously.
