Hi:Thanks, everyone, for your responses. It's a bit reassuring to hear that I wasn't the only one to miss grasswrens in the West McDonnells. For the benefit of everyone interested, it appears that dusky grasswrens are easier to find in areas that are not as well publicized in the birding guides. Namely, the East McDonnell Ranges (Trephina Gorge, N'Dhala Gorge), along the Mereenie Loop and in Kings Canyon. Unfortunately, we did not have time to visit the first two of those locations. Maybe next time.
