Hi

Does anyone have any records or observations of the Grey Fantail subspecies 'albicauda' [white-tailed] for Victoria and Melbourne?

This subspecies' territory is usually given as western and central Australia and somewhat 'isolated', and described as having at least one call different from the subspecies[alisteri] we generally see in the east.

Is a call for 'albicauda' available somewhere on the net?

A recent sighting a grey fantail with dark central tail feathers[two] and the others bright white by contrast, in The Dandenongs suggest the 'white-tailed' rather than the 'white-shafted' form, but this would be 'extreme' nomadism.

Is it likely to otherwise be some variation in plumage in 'alisteri'?

More detailed description and some pics available for anyone interested.

Cheers
