Hi all,

Regent Honeyeaters are still showing well in the Capertee Valley (NSW). Last weekend with a group from BOCA we watched a pair feeding small young in a nest high in a large tree beside the river. This is a nest that I have been watching for a few weeks, so it's great to know the eggs have now hatched (and fingers crossed for a successful fledging).

In another part of the valley we saw a Regent hovering low over the ground like a Restless Flycatcher, feeding on something on the ground in long grass in a cleared paddock quite a distance from any trees. It would then fly purposefully into the woodland as if feeding young but we couldn't locate the nest.

Altogether at least six birds were seen in three locations and everyone got brilliant views.

Cheers

Carol
