The Mute Swan features as a supporter on the coat of arms of the ACT, along with the Black Swan--goodness knows why as Mute Swans have never, as far as I know, been introduced into the ACT.
A few years ago I wrote to the newly-elected Labor Chief Minister of the ACT, Jon Stanhope, asked that he reconsider the design. he wrote back saying it wasn't a priority. :-)
[I also suggested that the motto of Canberra "For the Queen, the Law and the People" ("Pro Rege, Lege et Grege"), was back to front when considered historically, but JS didn't comment on this]
