Hi Birders,

I was interested to read Gill Langfield's trip report of his travels up through the Centre to Birdsville and back and to note the comment about the advice he received from the "lady at the (Birdsville) Caravan park".

I would suggest that instead of only relying on the Caravan park lady's advice, birders visit the Birdsville Tourist Information Centre. My son Drew Morris took up a position of Tourist Information Officer at the Centre towards the end of last month. He has a good knowledge of birds and has been out and about looking at birds since he arrived there. He would be happy to talk about the birds of the District and could offer good in formation based on what he has seen and where. The TIC has a lot of interesting material on many subjects (plus it is the internet cafe for the Diamantina Shire) and is well worth a visit not only for its birding information.

Australia Bush Heritage Fund has recently purchased a new reserve in Diamentina Shire, Ethabuka, located west of Bedourie, at the edge of the Simpson Desert.
