When I was looking for a GPS years ago, Silva claimed that their VERY
expensive device would usually work under canopy. Certainly my Garmin
with antenna mounted on the snorkel has trouble keeping up on an
"avenue" of trees - remember that the satellites won't always be
directly overhead. Stop and wait for the next one to go by.
My M... died after the software change date -at about 3 years old I
felt it should have been safe. And we didn't like the set-up of the
later model that BA was supplying for atlassing - most unfriendly.
