Just did a quick Web Search - the company is actually /www.nextdestination.com.au (they are a distributor not actually Magellan) and lo and behold - Kevan (with an A not an I) James is in their service department. Might drop them a mail asking about support for their products.....

Many thanks to Stuart Cooney for passing on his experiences with Magellan.  I know we usually try to avoid "commericalism" on Birding-Aus, but we are not the ABC, and we do not have a charter that precludes us from mentioning companies that are particularly helpful - or, in this case, rude and unhelpful.

I hope Stuart takes the time and trouble to let Mr Kevin James - and hopefully a few of his superiors - know that his lack of helpfulness and manners (so much for a "service" department!) has been shared with some of his birding friends ...  a little over 500 members and untold hundreds who read Birding-Aus via the archive and a couple of mirror sites.
