Been
having hundreds of YT Black Cockies around my place in NE Adelaide during the
last week or so. . In the mornings it seems to be a food supply thing as they
are giving some pine and casuarina trees a pounding with masses of debris under
the trees. They are seen coming out of the hills at Anstey's Hill and into built
up areas along Perseverance Rd. They go back in the afternoon and last Wednesday
a flock of some 100 -120 flew very low over my house.
On Saturday afternoon there must have been upwards of
200. There was one flock of about 60 or 70 with
many many more smaller groups. They just kept flying around and around the area
landing in Eucalypt and Casuarinas for about half an hour before finally
drifting off in small groups back into the gully on the south side of Anstey's
Hill. Even some of my non birdo neighbours came out to have a
look.
