Sightings

10 September
At Mornington Harbour there were 4 imm. White-fronted Terns with >120
Crested Terns. Thanks Mike Carter.

9 September
There was an Eastern Curlew and 22 Great Knots at “The Spit” Werribee
Treatment Plant and a Spotted Harrier at the boat ramp entrance to Lk.
Borrie WTP area hawking over the long grass on the right as one drives down
the road. Thanks John & Sue O’Malley.

6 September
Flying over Sale, 200 Cattle Egrets. Thanks Duncan Fraser.

5 September
A Barn Owl was stunned after colliding into the windows at the back of the
Bendigo Art Gallery in Rosiland Park. It was being mobbed by Ravens, Red
Wattlebirds and Magpielarks. Thanks Adrian Martins.

5 September
A Shining Bronze-Cuckoo was calling from a tree near the Hamilton railway
station this afternoon. These birds arrive in town anytime between the end
of August and mid October so this is on the early side. Thanks Steve Clark.

3 September
There were Musk Duck, Blue-billed Duck and a tame Buff-banded Rail at
Braeside park this morning. Thanks Brock Mathieson.

2 September
Seen today at Crescent Island, Gippsland Lakes, 400+ Australian Pelicans in
the breeding colony, 100+ being young. Also sighted, immature and adult
White-bellied Sea-Eagles. Thanks Duncan Fraser and Len Axen.

2 September
There was a Horsefield's Bronze-Cuckoo in a surburban backyard in Glen Iris.
This is the first one Fiona has seen or heard in Glen Iris the eight years
she has been living here. Thanks Fiona Parkin.

31 August
There was a group of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos moving from Faulkner Park
across St Kilda Rd towards Albert Park. Euan saw two from the office but
could hear them calling for some minutes afterwards so I suspect that there
were more in the group. Thanks Euan Moore

31 August
There was a Barn Owl at the NE corner of Truganina Swamp, Altona Wednesday
31st August at 6:15pm. There were 2 White-necked Herons in the NE corner of
Truganina Swamp, Altona Tuesday 5pm. One has been in the vicininty for over
a week. Thanks Colin Clark.

29 August
At the Seymour Bushland Reserve there was a Noisy Friarbird calling and a
Black Kite. Nearby at Tallarook along the Hume Freeway there was another
Black Kite. Thanks Michael Ramsey.

29 August
Pair of Shining-bronze Cuckoo's at the Pt Lonsdale Lighthouse. Thanks Peter
Fuller.
