Hello all,

Had a pleasant morning of canoeing on Friday up Stony Creek at Toronto West and Cockle Creek at Teralba (Lake Macquarie, NSW). Saw some nice birds including a Black Bittern on each of the creeks. Also Azure Kingfishers (2 nests in creek banks), Striated Heron, Nankeen Night-heron, Darter (2 nests), Magpie-lark (nest), lots of cormorants. Passerines included Scarlet Honeyeater, Brown-headed Honeyeater, Satin Bowerbird, White-throated Gerygone and Rufous Whistler (singing strongly). Also heard a Common Koel call a couple of times on the morning of the 30/8. No sign of one since.

There has been a few problems with my website over the last week. It should be working now. If you have any problems with it please let me know. I've added some very spotty photos to the website (www.wildlifing.com). Sooty Owl (Australian Spotted Owl would be a nice name for it), Spotted Pardalote, and Spotted Gum.

Cheers

Mick
