NASA has an open source product called world wind - Probably only useful to those with broad band, It includes a good digital elevation model. seems to offer better detail away from the centres in Aus . It would be great if everywhere had the ( free) access to high resolution orthophotos that the US part does (you have to pay per view here) giving incredible resolution and 3D to give a real feel of the terrain, not just a map. You can find it at http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ Nevil Amos Policy Analyst Biodiversity Conservation Strategies Department of Sustainability and Environment PO Box 500, East Melbourne, VIC 3002.
