A WINTER TREAT

Hello All,

Yesterday, acting on the urge to"try everything once" , I bought a durian from my local supermarket . After a thorough test I decided that it wasn't my "cup of tea"and not wanting to waste such a large edible(to some) piece of natural produce, I placed it on an exposed rock in my backyard. Last night two Brushtail Possums dined on the tropical fruit, this morning the two local Ravens arrived tearing off chunks which they first dunked in the bird bath before consuming. The next interested parties were a half a dozen Magpies who gave an exhabition of try before you buy and then proceeded to stuff themselves with the sweet but smelly fruit . The next, and most appreciative consumer , was a Blackfaced Cuckoo Shrike who has returned at least three times to-day, the first time that I have ever seen one eat anything other than insects.
