Hi all,
The next Melbourne public seminar of Birds Australia is on Thursday 14
July at 8:00pm.
As our guest speaker we have Ken Gosbell, one of Australia?s leading
wader experts. Ken will talk about his expedition to monitor shorebirds
on the Kamchatka Peninsula. In August 2004 Ken was one of a group of
international volunteers that joined Dr Yuri Gerasimov on an expedition
to the west coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Far East Russia to
monitor shorebirds during the southward migration. The main objective
was to contribute to the baseline knowledge of the Moroshechnaya
Estuary, the most northern Shorebird Network Site in the East
Asian-Australasian Flyway. Ken will outline the importance of this area
and describe some of the features and outcomes of the program.
The talk will be held at our usual venue: down stairs at the theatrette
at Strathcona Grammar School, Scott St, Canterbury, Melbourne (Melways
Ref 46 D12).
Please note also the availability of the registration form for the Birds
Australia 2005 Congress & Campout in Bendigo, to be held at the end of
September at http://www.birdsaustralia.com.au/congress
Cheers,
Tim
