Thanks for that. It lightens up an unresolvable discussion but also depresses that the situation could be so bad. Well I thought "cotta" could be coot too but it could be a shortening of "Terracotta", as in some birds are quite statuesque.
 
p.s. the Land Rover Club of the ACT that I am a member of, does include the occasional quite reasonably accurate description or comment about birds encountered on the trips. And not just articles by me.
