Hi Birders,

I am pleased to report that the Northern Shoveler (s) are still present at Seale's Road Swamp, near Gladstone, between Kempsey and South West Rocks (lat longs 31 06 49, 152 57 00). The bird(s) are seen mostly on the northern side of the swamp and Ken Shingleton, a local birder, reports that the bird was there today. Approx. 12 people have now seen the bird but no one has secured a reasonable photo as yet because the bird although easliy to locate appears to stay just a bit out of photographic range. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has secured a photograph as I will be making a submission to BARC and it would be good to have a photograph to accompany the submission.

Thanks to Mike Carter who was able to advise me that the Werribee STW Northern Shoveler was present down there up to 17/6/05 so that the South West Rocks bird, first seen on 25/6/05, make be the same bird unless the Werribee bird has been seen again?

Ken advises that there was a flock of about 500 Glossy Ibis in close proximity to the male shoveler during todays visit.
