A Fantailed Cuckoo has been singing its head off near our house (next to Limeburner's Lagoon, off Corio Bay, Geelong) for several days. FC's overwinter regularly around Geelong, especially at Werribee Treatment Plant. Do they usually start singing this early?

Hullo Russell,
We don't seem to get nearly as many cuckoos as we used to in Ivanhoe (Vic) 20 years ago, but I have several times heard Fantail Cuckoos calling in May - not lately though. Presumably preparing to impose their eggs on Superb Fairywrens and White-browed Scrub-wrens.
