Notwithstanding that remote DNA sensing would be wonderful for researchers (and no doubt for police and Chinese spies etc) and less stressful for the fauna or people being tracked, it is drivel, as I suspect most likely would be this "Song Sleuth". Even though the current cold in Canberra (where I am) may interfere with an ability to think coherently, maybe it doesn't reduce an ability to fantasise. Maybe it would be nice. Although this reminds me of an old song lyric: "They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum and charged the people a dollar and a half just to see 'em." As in what is the point of watching birds? We like it to be easy but not all the time.
